HISTORIC WALKING TOUR OF THE HARBOREast Harbor (under Murray Street Bridge) Biography of Ed Larson Ed Larson was born, reared and educated in Seattle Washington. He is the adopted son of a Norwegian fisherman and holds a captain’s license for vessels to 50 tons. During World War II he served in China and India as a transport pilot, and has maintained a vessel in the Santa Cruz Harbor for 25 years. He is a graphic artist and the author of three books. The first, Spring Tides, deals with his adventures as a youth working on towboats in Southeastern Alaska. His second book, Gaffrigged Remembrance – writings from the Santa Cruz Harbor, deals with the boats and people of our local harbor. The third book, Pebbles from a Favored Shore, deals with marine stories from Santa Cruz and Alaska. He has served as head docent of the Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor since 1991 and has conducted tours and classroom presentations on the history of the harbor for more then 5,000 local school children. In addition to his educational efforts, Larson created the graphics for the interpretive stations which ring our harbor.
