Dedicated to protecting California's majestic coastline and the fragile marine resources of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Marine Sanctuary Center located at 345 Lake Avenue.
Open seven days a week, 10 am to 4 pm.

Wednesday Night Sailboat Races April to October

From April to October, each Wednesday night local sailors get out during the early evening to compete and have fun, with the emphasis on 'fun.' Join in on the Chardonnay II, Pacific Yachting, or view the race from Park Place Excursions' charter vessel www.parkplaceexcursions.com. This is an event that packs the harbor with visitor spectators. The harbor's restaurants and beach are especially good viewing areas. Bring your camera or video camera, and beach blanket, and spend a delightful evening watching the sails parade in their full glory against the setting sun. 5:30 pm

Marina Interpretive Walk (831) 475-6161

Walk, jog, or bike the popular and educational two-mile path around the harbor. Twelve colorful interpretive stations are placed along the way to inform you on subjects such as fishing, the environment, and harbor wildlife, local history, and nautical facts. Free docent-led group tours available. Call (831) 475-6161 for information.

Whale Watching/Sailing Winter/Spring 2006-07

Come to the harbor and cruise with the whales! Climb aboard one of the many comfortable boats offering this exciting close-up of the migrating California Gray Whale and many other marine mammals and birds. For charter information, contact these businesses: Chardonnay Sailing Charters, Pacific Yachting, O'Neill Yachts, Park Place Excursions, Pleasure Point Charters, Santa Cruz Sportfishing, Shamrock Charters, Reel Sportfishing, Monterey Bay Charters and Kayak Connection.

Hot Competitive Volleyball on-going

The harbor beach has two regulation-sized volleyball courts.
Doubles beach volleyball and family games are always happening.
Dig it- spike it- or spectate!

Circle Trail on-going

Hike the Circle Trail, part of the county-wide system of wilderness and open-space trails. Trail starts on the west side of the harbor and travels through Arana Gulch. 

Free Water Taxi mid-May through September

Park in the north harbor visitor spaces and take the water taxi throughout the harbor.
Weekends and Holidays, 11 am - 6 pm
The ride is FREE!
